Tigran Movsisyan
Tigran
Movsisyan has been producing unique and original art since his early
days. He completed the School of Art at the Yerevan University in
Armenia in 1976. Early in his career he worked at the Yerevan Museum of
History as an interior design coordinator where he was in charge of
space planning and exhibition arrangement. After getting married, he
moved to Kiev, the capital of Ukraine, where he began working for the
Ukrainian Central Fine Arts Studio. There, he created ceramic interior
and exterior designs, including sculptures, decorative vases, wall
panels, and bass reliefs for hotels, restaurants, stores, and public
buildings. Along with a group of other ceramic artists, he opened a
design center in Kiev called Gonchary in 1987. At the Gonchary center he
created monumental decorative works for both interior and exterior
design and was commissioned to participate in the architectural
landscaping of the city. Some of the pieces he completed during that
period were: ceramic wall panel "Gold Fish" at the Kiev Youth Center;
ceramic bass-relief for a high school interior; ceramic water fountain
and sculptural garden in Kiev Central Park; sculpture compositions for
restaurant interiors; and interior design for an athletic institute.
