ARTIST STATEMENT
The physical activity of making art is no different than any
other activity that I perform
on a given day. What sets the experience of art-making apart
for me is the direct relationship that
develops between the object I physically create and the
internal struggle undergo during
the creation process. The created object is a natural
byproduct of my attempt to become aware of,
and to actualize in a material form, my deepest feelings,
perceptions and intuitive promptings on a moment
-to-moment basis. The main impediment to this whole flowing
process is the potential for attachment to
the “outcome”, or the material appearance of the
thing created. There can be no preconceived ideas about
how the finished object should look. Attachment must be
avoided at all costs, if any modicum of progress is
to be achieved through my commitment to this process. The
maquettes in this show offer me a perpetual
source of surprise, wonderment and deep pleasure.
